Rashed, Liz, Steve, Jef, Ioannis: thanks a lot for your comments and ratings. One colleague - when I presented him this work for a private review - commented that this is a "tragic" study on vertical lines and asked if i had pourposedly waited for the woman to be among all those signs. Yes, I did. Street photography is also about envisioning what is going to happen in a few moments and being ready to frame in a meaningful way, creating new links between apparently "distant" subjects. Thank you very very much, a really busy Giuseppe :-)

Technically the shot is superb...and excellent in it's composition...the five vertical lines..as you said...add great aesthetic value ...

Even with her braces, this young lady seems firmly in control and completely in her element. There's no sign of weakness in this photo at all; the composition and tones project strength and sureness and seem so precisely balanced as to weather any test of time or fashion.

Courage (like Jack implies) or a lack of choice...

This is certainly an excellent example of a perfect street photo.
