chyrkov 0 Posted May 30, 2009 Hi! please critique this photo. i did it a long time ago but i stilllove it. some of people are saying that it's not good and i wanna knowwhat's wrong with it? i shot it for a jewelry store and they had anadvertisement in the magazine that i'm working for. in the magazinethough this photo was cropped really close so that it only shows leftear, eye and a part of her hand. it looked alright because the mainconcentration was of the subject(jewelry). however i like this photonot much as a ad photo but as a portrait and the way i've posted ithere. so what do you guys think? please comment both from a fashionand portrait point of view!=) many thanks in advance!!=) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 30, 2009 As a high-fashion ad, the parted lips are a little too sexy, the catchlights from your clamshell lighting leave your model looking a little glassy-eyed, and the tracery of veins on the bosom is a little too medical. As a portrait, the conspicuous jewelry and very disciplined pose of the hand shouts "high fashion catalog shot."It's okay to love this shot--I find it compelling, too. The point is that it doesn't quite belong to one genre or another. Link to comment
florin_coter 0 Posted May 31, 2009 The main problem with the image is most probably with those who do not like it, as legitimate as it can be.I do love the sharp eyes that complement the diamond, like saying "Hey, look at me... see the diamonds?" As to the lips, I like the "sexiness" because such jewelry has the expectations of a sexual encounter. I should go like this, from bottom to top: ice cold skin, precious cold diamonds, crystal clear eyes, and then, the final human-woman touch in the lose hair. Tense expectations and offerings. You see? This cannot be but a GOOD photograph. In the end, please drop the categories. It does not matter if it is fashion or candid. Feel about it! Link to comment
