alight 0 Posted May 25, 2009 it's good to see a post from you, finally. This is funny. New life will get you to a funeral home and ... does that flag play a role in there, as well? And hey, on the New Life sign, is that a fishing hook? I like these types of photo that combine stuff to tell a story; whether it's a funny one, or a serious one. BTW, isn't lacrosse the official game of the Catholic church? Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
dandem 1 Posted May 25, 2009 Another wonderful and interesting image from you, Dave. Good to see another image from you. Well seen. Well done, my friend. Regards, Lawrence. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 25, 2009 Thanks for looking and remembering that I still exist. I haven't been much of a presence lately, and I'm not sure how much I will be in the future. I am trying hard not to lose contact. Micheal, at the risk of really upsetting some people, I don't think Lacrosse is an official Catholic sport. Child molestation perhaps. But hey, they both involve goals, goal tenders, spirited defense, and good sport. And, yes, that does look like a hook. Well, religions use those to capture their devotees. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted May 25, 2009 What a juxtaposition David...a minister of new life is something we miss here... as you know I like to follow your sign series (among others)...I see the incredibly precise alignement but was such a high precision really needed...in the other hand I think the precise alignment makes the message appear even more funny a kind of "new life really ordered"... it's good to see you posting... bjcarlton 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Aside from the obvious textual stuff, there's some interesting compositional stuff going on here. The flag's triangular shape mimics the tree to the right of the Creighton sign. That tree is perfectly lined up with the light standard. There's a little knob or something atop the New Life sign that nicely punctuates the otherwise blank sky. The wrought iron to the left of the New Life sign mimics the fish-hook cross (I guess that's actually supposed to be a flame). The flag pole is as far from the left side of the picture as the light standard from the left side of the New Life sign. The dots (an ellipsis and a period?) on the New Life sign almost exactly divide the picture in half. The wrought iron to the left of the New Life sign suggests a treble clef, with the curb being the G on the musical staff. Interestingly, it also bisects the car in the background. All that's missing to make this a perfect picture is a naked woman . . . (.) Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 26, 2009 While the alignment was certainly deliberate, the image was done with a point and shoot, and by simply moving from side to side to get things where I wanted them to be. Thanks for your thoughts on this and the others made today. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 26, 2009 If I didn't know better I'd think you to be a psychiatrist, with such precise analysis. Some of the things you mention had completely eluded me. As for the nude woman to be included, if you will send her, I will take it. I'm honored to see a comment from you, because an utterance from you on something other than a nude is unusual. Mind you I'm not complaining. No, not one bit. Link to comment
bjcarlton 0 Posted May 26, 2009 Actually, no naked woman available, but I did correct the spelling. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 26, 2009 Well, if that last one is true, I'll just skip right on over to the other side of the street. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 26, 2009 That's not a fishing hook, it is a cross speaking with a very long forked tongue. A surprising candid comment from a ministry. I like the row of point form bullets running down the page. Place holders for some poignant tidbits of relevant religious illumination which they plan on coming up with sooner or later. All the best, with whatever new adventures are keeping you away from the P.Nut farm. Glad to see that you still poke your head through the door once in awhile. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 27, 2009 Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. As you've noted I haven't been much of a presence lately. I'm slowly working my way back to being around on pnet, but it will take awhile to get things rolling again. I'll try to swing by your site to see what your wacky mind has produced in my absence. Jack McRitchie 150 Posted May 27, 2009 You're back at it again, you devil, confounding that poor little rational dweeb who sits in the control room of our brain and tries manfully (in his limited way) to make sense of it all. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 28, 2009 Now Jack, why would I want to do a thing like that? ☺ ☻ ☺ Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 28, 2009 Well, sooner or later, and without choosing (at least for most of us), we get to that far side. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted May 28, 2009 David, you have returned with a bang, in your usual way. Take care, dear friend. Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted July 8, 2009 Jay, that's funny. I'm thinking I should change the title to "Continuity of Care." I like that!. Link to comment
