mariano_garcia_valino 0 Posted February 24, 2001 I shot around 15 shots today with my new polarizer. All of them, except for this one, have some serious defect. I guess I need to practice more... but what do you think about this one? Should it follow its brothers and sisters on their way to the black hole? Link to comment
wayne_crider3 0 Posted February 24, 2001 Snows too gray; No seperation in the (rocks?). Boring subject matter. No relation to whats around it that makes it the lone surviver. I would set up a scene with a snowman in a thaw with the same title. Link to comment
michael_goode1 0 Posted February 25, 2001 I think the title referred to this being the last surviving photo of the shoot, not the actual title . . . I'd have to agree that it is a boring subject. The snow is fine, however--to have the snow completely white would be absurd--there would be no detail. Why the use of the polarizar? Polarizers are like guns--it is dangerous (to your photos, at least) to have them on the camera all the time; only use one when there is a real purpose to using one . . . Link to comment
mariano_garcia_valino 0 Posted February 25, 2001 I do appreciate the feedback. Only survivor is not, of course, the title of the picture... it is just that it was the only shot that I did not have to trash... the picture does not have any title. The reason for using the polarizer was just to use it because it is new, and I thought snow could benefit from less reflection. I agree that it is a dangerous tool, as the rest of the shooting painfully demonstrates. However, in this particular shot, I believe snow did benefit, as it enhanced its texture. I do not get the comment about the rocks being unseparated... sorry for my ignorance, but would you mind explaining what you mean? Is it that the light is flat and low contrast? Thanks again guys for taking the time. Link to comment
