Thomas,

Pretty girl - Your composition is good (she could be moved a little to her left). The basic "rule" is to position the tip of the nose in the vertical center of the photograph. This is quite close. Parts of her seem to be in very good focus, but I think her eyes could be a little sharper. They may appear that way because they are in shadow and need to be better lit. The whites of her eyes must be white. You need to have a catch light in them to give them life.

Your background is nicely out of focus. I do not mind the horizontal lines behind her, but the lighter area in the upper right corner could be toned down a little. The bright out of focus pink in the background draws my attention away from her. The bright shade of pink does not go with the pink color of her sweater at all. She is quite nicely separated from the background. Your lighting on her face is very nice, but her eyes must receive more light. Too much of the back of the dark brown chair is showing. It takes up too much space and it also draws my attention away from her face.

She needs to pull down her sweater to get rid of the wrinkles at her belly. She appears to have a very nice shape, but she looks slouched in the chair. She needs to sit in such a way that it show her nice trim figure. She actually looks a little uncomfortable. She have a very nice complexion, but her make-up could be better. Her mascara on her bottom eyelashes needs to be applied more evenly - she needs more eyeliner on her bottom eyelids and she needs just a bit more lipstick or lip gloss. Her blush looks very good.

She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer), but her expression seems a bit derisive to me. She just doesn't look like she is very happy to be posing for the camera. It looks like she wants to give a "come to me" look, but hasn't quite got it. It is not coming across that she is feeling much emotion and therefore doesn't give much emotion.

I think you have the makings of a very good portrait of a very pretty girl. It just needs a little revision.

Your name and web site information is not part of the photograph. It belongs on the mat.

Nice shot,

Mark
