alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted May 17, 2009 As if the composition weren't great enough to sand on it's own, we also have the title. Brilliant, Jack. But it's what we expect :) Alberta Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 17, 2009 Nice example of your signature post production and your most classic subject material. I love everything about this one . My absolute favourite aspect being that sliver of light coming down from above and veering as it hits land. I also enjoy the tight crop around the cone and the wonderful orange glow. Jack you are the master of your own invented genre. Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted May 18, 2009 I hear the voice saying "Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce The Great Cone of...". That delicious slice of light features as an exclamation mark (to these tired eyes anyway). Could this be the great cover photo on your oncoming photo book, Jack? Link to comment
dennisdixson 0 Posted May 18, 2009 This is an interesting image. I like it at once for what seems like simplicity but then as usual the more I look the more there is to see. Sort of like discovering a really great tune on the "B" side of a forty five which makes me wonder why those were called singles when in fact they were doubles. Rather than Noir, this gives me the impression of waiting in the wings just outside the spotlight. Perhaps this cone is an understudy or part of the chorus line. I really like that little kiss of rim light and the graduated tones along with the lovely textures. Good work. I've often wondered about the origins of the cone. On one of my recent trips I stumbled across evidence that suggests they lived among the ancients. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2209/3543119120_496346d4d5.jpg Link to comment
bengt1664878721 2 Posted May 18, 2009 A striking similarity in posture to the masters in your previous shot, imparting the same sense of plasticy presence and command. I guess this one's the anti-hero? Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted May 19, 2009 Forms, light and colours make this a very good abstract. Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted May 19, 2009 Quite a drama with just a few elements...I am sure the cone will survive this!Who said May was meaningless? Link to comment
