This is a great capture Robert! I like the perspective.

To show more of how I shot through the brige I thought I would show a sample of a similar shot.

Shot this actually through the beams of a bridge I was photographing.

Beautiful curves. I love the perspective. I like it that the golfer and his shadow have both been caught against the background of the path (and not the grass). I have the feeling that the crop is a bit too tight.

Is this a par 5

There is a course like this in Oakland Ca that has a hole that looks like this, a par 6 (Over 600 yards) with no path.

This one jumped off of the monitor screen at me. Very nice capture. Nice color, balance etc. Arn't you the guy who does self portraits ? is that you ? ( just kidding)

I had no idea I was know as "the guy that does the self portraits." but no... that is not me. Where I took the shot... and where this gentleman is are about 25-30 minutes of travel time, walking/driving.

Great design with colour, shape,and form, and the person really puts the scene in context. I'm not so keen on the square crop suggested above. I like the fact that the path leads to alternative landform and texture at the top, and the green velvety texture of the golf lawn is an appealing element so the B&W doesn't work for me either. Only thing is, I wish the golfer were walking into the frame instead of out.

I have to agree. walking into the frame would be more preferred. I was so far away though I dont think screaming out "Hey! turn around!" would have been heard. As far as commercial value I think the folks at the golf course liked seeing more course. It helps to "sell" the course.

Someone questioned whether it was a Par 5. Yes it is. You're looking at hole three on the Austin Country Club Golf Course. The 360 bridge is probably on of the most photgraphed landmarks in Austin. Nice Work. Great Portfolio.

A friend and I went out to shoot the Bridge and this became my money shot. he barely shot the bridge too. He shot more macros of spiders and flowers on the cliff. Funny how shoots turn out sometimes.

Good composition and perspective.The man standing is the complementary element.

As a photographer, I like the snaking line, and the long perspective. As a golfer, I am dismayed at the fact that he spends all that time walking an asphault driveway. As much as I understand the reasoning behind asphault, I am saddened by the trend toward golf carts and paving. Walden noted, 'a good walk, spoiled'.

He really didnt walk the whole path. I only got three shots of him. I think the path is there for just the carts. I have to commend him for walking the course and not driving it. I think he was just burnin' calories.

A very nice shot of a great subject matter with nice ciolouring to top the shot off.

 

Robert, the only suggestion I could add is in regard to the cropping. While I don't know what else was available in the original frame, I feel that the slight cutting of the path in the top RH corner leaves me wondering. Maybe you couldn't keep the full curve in. In the same issue, the close cropping on the LHS of the path is again too close to the bone for my eye.

 

 

 

These are two very small points in an otherwise great shot.
