About a dozen hot-air balloons were tethered for us to marvel at this

evening in Breckenridge. This one was using volunteers including the

local firemen to hold it down.

I think this image is the greatest! WOW I would love to have seen this in person. I think hot air balloons are a beautiful site to see. I am just not sure I am ready to get into one LOL

Beautiful. I never rate Balloon photos because they are just too easy. How can you take a bad photo of colorful humongous balloons. Well first you take a million photos of balloons in flight send it to a magazine or post it on the net and expect to be revered as a pioneer. I think Kodak started that crap. Anyway I have never seen this (Your photo), and finally, finally I can say Unique. On top of that a good photo.

What a marvelous photo! Personally, I'd love to see what the whole area looked like, with all these "colorful humongous balloons" lighting up the night.

On first view, I thought this was a drawing based in Illustrator. Only after close inspection did I realize it is your artfully crafted photograph.

My favorite of the series. The other balloon shots have a more straightforward, photojournalistic look & feel. Here the complete isolation of foreground from background gives this picture a timeless, contemplative feel... visual representation of night ballooning in it's platonic-ideal form. Beautiful image.

The solitude of the lone balloon is what makes this a good photo. The spotlight on the ground from the burn delineates the area from everything else around it, relegating the background to oblivion. Nice job.

Very interesting shot. The lighting and the subjects remind me of some type of religious ceremony instead of a balloon shot. The shot looks so 'clean. Did you shoot at ISO100 or 200?

Actually, Stephen, I shot it at ISO 400. This is one of three frames (the last three frames of the night) I shot of this particular scene. The second one was completely dark the first and third differed only in the positioning of the human ballast.

Fred, nice capture. It's a subtle picture that you have to study for awhile to really appreciate. I like the fact that the background is darkened to exclude distracting elements. Hope to see you in mountains next week.
