soniam 6 Posted May 14, 2009 Too dark around the eyes? I don't think the light was quite right but didn't notice until I uploaded onto my computer. Please let me know what you think. Thank you very much for your time, comments and ratings. Link to comment

josefiina 0 Posted May 14, 2009 I think this is very beautiful picture. All tones fits perfectly together, light is good. It might be only just a little brighter. Your blue eyes looks good and skin looks beautifully mat. If you know what i mean, my english is not quite good... :) Link to comment

serocchio 0 Posted May 14, 2009 Excellent self portrait, the tone is fine and the composition show a delicate touch! Just one note: you should underline your beatiful eyes with some more brithness! Regards S.O. Link to comment
suspendedmoments 0 Posted May 14, 2009 Sonia, The tones you've selected take this portrait to a much higher plane. That you have such a wonderfully effective subject in yourself is a tremendous creative bonus! I like the gradients, and no, the eyes do not appear too dark to me? As this is a somber and masterfully lit portrait, I think the eyes have just the right amount of light and detail. Creates mystery. I'm not one to comment on hair and so on, but I have to mention that your hair styling in this portrait brings wonderful visual rhythm as well as ties in the light/texture... I like that it's a distancing three quarter view also.. wonderful work in every way...I cannot decide, if I like the touch of light on your right arm, but that's a very small detail in a great portrait! (I immediately put this one in my favorites as something to study) Link to comment

soniam 6 Posted May 14, 2009 I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thank you all so much for being so very kind. In some ways a self-portrait is difficult but in some ways it is easier. You can take as many shots as you want until you find one you can work with, you can hide all your flaws with angles, ect. and if the shoot doesn't work out, you can arrange to meet with the model again, when your schedule allows! :) I am not a photogenic model - honestly - but patience is a virtue and out of some 200 or more photos, I was bound to find one or two I could post. I do wish I had tilted my head a little more to catch the light. – Next time…. Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted May 14, 2009 Love this image of you Sonia. Works great as a portrait....self or other. Personal, expressive. It seems to capture your spirit and it is just plain gorgeous! Oh and yes, the eye area is dark but I don't believe that properly lit eyes are a must for all portraiture. Link to comment
