john_wall3 0 Posted February 23, 2001 My girlfriend and I are shooting a still-life calendar with monthly themes, and this is what we came up with for February. Let me know what everyone thinks... BTW, I would certainly hesitate to call this "Fine Art," but it seemed to be the only appropriate category for submission. We need a "Still Life" category in the critique section. Link to comment
sorin 0 Posted February 23, 2001 I find it too busy. Too many things competing for my attention. Link to comment
bernd_gaertner 0 Posted February 23, 2001 Nice! The only thing I dislike is the picture ofthe couple. Without that it would be more abstractand I think, better (composition would have to beadapted, of course). Link to comment
richard_cochran 2 Posted February 23, 2001 Nice composition and technical quality. I, too dislike the picture of the couple, just because it turns the picture into a depiction of romance between those two pictured people, instead of romance in general. Also, I'd avoid depicting the brand name on the chocolates. Instead of the photo of the couple, if you could find a miniature copy of Rodin's "The Kiss" sculpture... Or a valentine's day card, or just a pink envelope with a woman's kiss imprinted in lipstick, or a diamond ring in a presentation box, or a man's bow-tie intertwined with a woman's garter, or... greg_petusky 0 Posted March 8, 2001 Yeah, there's a lot of dissonance in introducing the picture of the couple. They're pretty murky, and instead of getting an instantaneous feeling from the overall composition, I'm distracted and squinty. The calendar is acting as a somewhat useful little bounce, but itself seems rather off-the-shelf ordinary. Pleasing arrangement, tho. Link to comment
