Petroglyphs, Ironwood Forest National Monument

Ironwood Forest National Monument is a recent (2000) addition to the parks system. What it lacks in infrastructure and tourist volume, it makes up for in peace, solitude, and beauty. f/8, 1/60th or so.

Petroglyph and succulent, Ironwood Forest NM. Thanks for your

comments. And before I hear anything about uneven polarization, let

the record reflect that I didn't use a polarizer for this shot.

i am not as fond of this as i am your previous 2 or 3 posts. there just isn't a lot here to keep me engaged for long. i do like the colors, and it makes me fondly recall times spent in the desert which i love, but... not much else going on IMO.

Thanks for the comments. I was trying for a more intimate landscape than usual, and I thought the sage (?) helped anchor the shot while staying in the foreground color theme. I'll keep trying -- this is a remote area, but not impossible to access.

Christian, A camera position a little to the right would have created a diagonal and thus more dynamic relationship between the sage & the subject. Lighting is too flat. I would like to see a version of this with early/late day lighting. Certainly a subject worth shooting in a variety of ways. Best, LM.

Strange colours but appealing. I think the subject is really worth exploring a little further. I'm not sure about the plant in the foreground and since I don't know what else is around I can't make any sensible suggestion. It might be interesting to get closer to the subject and try from a few different angles/perspectives. I really like the colour contrast between the rocks and sky and would like to see more of this. Thanks for the image.
