klsbusybee 0 Posted December 6, 2002 This is my first roll of B&W ever and I was rather pleased with many of the shots. Unfortunately our scanner does not scan well and this scanned shot is a little different than the actual shot. I do not have a large budget but would like to investigate buying a new scanner. Any advice? How about the photo? I took it using a yellow filter. I don't know much about B&W but my husband had a yellow filter and suggested that I use it. What would be different if I had NOT used it? What part do filters play in B&W? Link to comment
hudsonphotos 0 Posted December 6, 2002 What took you so long to shoot black & white? Fun isn't it? I haven't found a scanner that does well with b/w either... especially scanning negatives. Filters with b/w film mainly effect contrast. Yellow and green can smooth out contrast while red intensifies it. Try a red filter sometime on a cloudy day. Have fun! Link to comment
carl_crosby3 0 Posted December 7, 2002 Isn't Black and white fun? A little fill would open up the eyebrow shadows on the man, and a faster shutter speed would have stopped the squirmy baby, so he/she (hard to tell in black and white) would appear a bit sharper.Kids are FAST! Overall a very good effort. Now go take some more pictures. (us old guys call it practice) Link to comment
