Tradition-III: Companionship across generations

Festivals have traditionally a religious connotation in India. During

such occasions ladies exchange good wishes, which often involves

putting vermilion on each other's head (on parting of the hair)

praying a long and happy married life.I this image a mother in law is

putting vermilion to her daughter-in-laws head, and she will in turn

return this gesture. Thank you for your time.

A brilliant display of colour with good documentary

Great, and very interesting serie you are presenting for our great pleasure and understanding of the whole world concept. Great and wonderful processing here, but for the composition it's a pitty it is taken very downwards, with no detail at all of the faces. Even more , because the marking on the face is the essential of the theme you bring us in the realy appreciated comments.

I will definitely come up with some shot where the putting of vermilion can clearly be seen. For this particular image I preferred this top angle and - this is the typical gesture of putting vermilion. If this image is viewed larger vermilion can be seen in the younger woman's finger, which she would put on her mother in law's hair soon after this. Best regards to everybody.
