samrat 1 Posted March 26, 2009 Don't really know why I named the photo thus. Just occured to me. Thanks for any comment. Link to comment
matthijs 0 Posted March 26, 2009 Very good though... ... I wonder whether the cross obstructs the view of the peak on purpose. ... I think the border is a tad severe. ...I keep wondering what the strange vertical lines in the clouds upper left are. (Shot taken through the window of a riding train perhaps?) Nitpick: would a tad wider have improved it? (Giving a little more context / information about the mountains top left, the reason for the fence and a hint of what lies to the right of this peak.) That said, the atmospere is great, contrast very good and overal impression nostalgic. Hope this helps, Matthijs. Link to comment
samrat 1 Posted March 26, 2009 I appreciate your views on my photo. I wish more people raised pointers like you have, which really helps. I took this photo from inside a room, so now you know you were right about the glass panes producing the lines in the upper right bit of the photo. Well noticed. I take your other points as well. Thanks. Do you think this photo would look better frameless? I did crop the photo to exclude a distraction to the right (in the form of a metallic structure) which aroused your curiosity. I also cropped to the left to leave out a bit of the background to help focus on the cross and the peaks. Link to comment
matthijs 0 Posted March 27, 2009 I'm not sure about frames, they're not my style. (But that's entirely a matter of personal taste.) They can be used to add to an atmosphere though. In this case maybe a "silver grey" might be better to lighten the mood? Link to comment
