rob_ruttan 5 Posted March 27, 2009 Nicely composed. Was it a planned shot, or a spontaneous moment? Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted March 27, 2009 Simply an opportunity seized. Thanks for stopping by. Best, LM Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 27, 2009 Perfect symmetry, Len. I have trouble with taking shots requiring steady hands; somehow the shutter press always skews the camera by a degree or two. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted March 27, 2009 OK! Busted! Gotta 'fess up that I too was stricken by the 'off level' syndrome you speak of. I had to reorient this one in PS making the vertical line in the center true. But that's what PS is for isn't it? Thanks for jumping in here and keeping me honest. Best, LM. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 27, 2009 Oh, definitely nothing wrong with PS on these little things, Len. In fact, the business of camera-shift on shutter-press is something I concluded that there is nothing I can do to overcome - except with a cabled remote which my little Sony P/S has. By the way, I see a ghostly figure wearing a cloak in the bottom-right square, and another near the left-center quadrant. Subliminal suggestions? or maybe I'm still hung-over from Halloween? LenMarriott 9 Posted March 28, 2009 'Ghostly figure' is probably and internal reflection. The dome is directly over the shiny escalator. Either that, or simply a pane with a lot of winter dirt on it. Visit often. Best, LM. Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted March 30, 2009 Iron Spider! I like that comparison. Thanks for taking the time to visit & comment. Best, LM. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 2, 2009 I like the way you have cropped it ( means composed...)Nice construction. The 3D is felt ! ( There are some dust specks that needs attention...;-)) Well spring is on its way soon the blue sky will be seen here... Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 2, 2009 Thanks for your thoughts. "...dust specks..." ? Probably bird poo! And I don't do windows. :-) But thanks for the thought. If I decide to print this I'll let Photoshop do the dirty work. Best, LM. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted April 4, 2009 Agree with the above comment on symmetry. Your observance of symmetric composition makes this photo work. The LL corner can still be drawn a wee bit down, but this is nitpicking :-) Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 4, 2009 Always a pleasure to have you visit. The minor 'nit' in the LL corner is offset by the minor 'nit' you missed in the LR corner (wires). A fanatic would clone them out and, if I ever print it, I'll probably do just that. Thanks for your participation. Best, LM. Link to comment

greg mccracken 13 Posted May 7, 2009 Great pattern study Len! You and I have to get together again soon for a shoot so you can inspire me to find those not-so-obvious scenes that you always find. One way to get away from any shutter pull might be to set the 2 second timer and let it shoot on its own.Not that I noticed it, I'm just following the thread discussion. Later, Greg Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted May 8, 2009 Good to hear from you again. Guess I can recall the posse now that you've been found. An outing? I'm always up for that! Just give me as much heads-up time as you can. The two second timer to avoid shutter pull is a technique I often use except, this time, I had no option but to hand holding the camera. Thanks for your input. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted May 15, 2009 Your comments\critiques on this 'grab shot' will be gratefully received. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks for stopping by. I see from a quick glance at your folder that this type of scene has an appeal for you as well since you have a fine example of it there. Easy to take but very effective! Check out this one by Bengt Ekelberg http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=8766471 Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted June 16, 2011 Just killing time in the local shopping mall & happened to look up. Had a camera with me. Thought it worth a frame. The rest was a natural reaction. Best, LM. Link to comment
