Oh my God... This is not a photo. This is a fable. And what a powerful one! It reminds me of the beginning of Mozart's Requiem.

Hello Tony, I am away from home and killing time by surfing my favorite photo site on my Blackberry and this folder and mainly this photo caught my attention. I must look at it more carefully when I get home on my regular screen.

But this photo looks absolutely superb with the treatment you did and the light on the main subject. A real story teller.

It will surely inspire me when I will take pictures of my mother who is living her last days. This is the reason I am away from home and I didn't bring my camera. No time for photography right now, being at the side of Mom.

Just want to tell you also that secretly, my photo titled White Sunset is a bit the representation that we all do in our mind of the moment we die, apparently, we see this white light.

Have a great day!

Good to hear from you and I am indeed sorry that your mom is in her 'last days'. I am happy that you are with her at this moment. I have been through that with both of my parents and it is probably natures way of preparing me mentally for that 'big day". Re the white light, some say it is a spiritual happening and the passage to the other side - while others argue that it is simply the effect of the brain shutting down. I am glad you found this image meaningful. All the very best.

It is not the kind of image I would hang on my wall but it is powerful and I think highly of it. I suspect you will get a range of reactions to this. I do hope you will get consideration based on the quality and vision for this image.

Quite good.I like it, the only drawback is, and this is strictly an opinion, is the black cloud comes down just a shade to far. But then it also occurs to me that is what you may have been striving for. In any case its interesting.

Regards,

Holger

Thanks - your thoughts are aligned with mine. Death and dark clouds are unpleasant subjects so i am not expecting lots of high rates on this. Already I see a 3/3 and I truly feel that the image affected that individual so i would say that the image has done what it intended to do. Every once in a while, I feel I need to deal with this subject photographically and so the next few requests for critique will be along these lines. Best wishes

I know these folks quite well and they gave me permission to cover the funeral - in fact that they were quite thankful that I did. The dark cloud was an element that I wanted to include in the image and I made it lower to blanket identities. This is in 'Upstate New York". Holger, I value all opinions and it is up to me to discern whether I incorporate changes in a future repost. This is much better than an anon low rate without the person telling me their opinion of the image. Even the 7/7 anon rating, I would like the reinforcement of why they thought the image was so good. Have a great day and i appreciate the visit, rating and comments.

Wonderful image, Tony...encompassing dark cloud and its effect is painfully depicted...though there is light in the middle, bright light...our hope, our optimism...in this journey full moon with all its dream is always with us...very nice...my best
