giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted March 10, 2009 Thank you for your comments, critiques and suggestions. This is the second version of a work I posted yesterday: I have gladly accepted Pnina Evental suggestions on cropping and re-composing the original version. G. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 10, 2009 Thank you very much for accepting and adding that version. Entering the photo now, I come right to the main subject without any other elements that interfer in my enjoying it. ( my feeling of course). I have added later( on the previous version) some explanation about cropping the upper part. Thanks again, Link to comment

jefvandenhoute 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Giuseppe Excellent capture of a daily scene in the city of Rome. An image that really tells a story Link to comment
je.barreto1 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Congratulations, it is a fantastic and meaningful image!... Beautiful warm, and something antique, colors in a charismatic mood. Composition is also very good. I agree with the "too much ground" in the previous version but I must say that, in this case, I feel the lamp absence. Best regards. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted March 11, 2009 I've looked it up and indeed, the crop is a good idea. It's a good and telling photo but to be honest the reds are way oversaturated. But impressive work as ever. Link to comment
cjtj50 0 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi Giuseppe, Great capture here and I like the tones very much along with your comp. Take care 7/6a Link to comment
giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted March 12, 2009 for all the comments, critiques and suggestions. Imho everybody is right - those who feel the lamp should stay there, and those who like it square. The two different versions narrate a somewhat different story, and have peculiar geometries such to inspire different imaginative thoughts. The color issue (thanks to Master Ton) is one that I had already addressed while post producing this work: maybe I pushed the reds a bit too far, but you know, I am so used to b/w ;-) As far as the low crop is considered, I usually kneel and like to put cobblestones in the foreground while shooting in Rome central area: this is usually done to "immerse" more and more my dear subjects in such a peculiar environment. Sorry if I bored you with my personal thoughts on my work but I like so much to receive such honest critiques that I couldn't stay silent! Let me send you a big big thank you again Ciao Giuseppe Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted March 12, 2009 I liked the sense of expectation conveyed by both the man and the empty chair. Excellent composition... Link to comment
gerrymorgan 0 Posted March 13, 2009 I like this crop much better than the original. It focuses the attention on the man. I agree with the Tonmeister about the red tones. Link to comment
