Eagle Up Close and Personal

gordy_koetje

Taken with a standard 80mm lens set at f2.8 and 60 on overcast day. This bird was hurt and i was able to approach very close. After some time the bird recovered his senses and flew away. It was pretty amazing.

As you can tell it's not a staged zoo picture... but i think maybe i

like it because of the luck involved... mamiya c330 with 80mm lens

wide open.. bird must of hit a tree and was just standing on this log

which allowed me to get within 6 feet and shoot a roll of 120 before

he regained his senses and flew off.... I dought it will happen

again.. Convinced me to always have my camera with me.

Thanks,

This might look better in a larger picture or in color. As it is, it lacks detail and the body blends too much with the background.

This is a bit off-topic, but I saw a bald eagle today at Greenlake Park in Seattle. It's the first time, I've seen an eagle that close -- about 10 yards away. If I had had my camera with me, I don't think I could have gotten it out of the bag in time for a good shot, because it was flying. The eagle was being followed by 4 crows. It looked like the eagle was the momma bird and the crows were the baby birds.
