lorraine 0 Posted November 20, 2002 Opinions, Please!!! I altered this black and white photo by using the style, solarize, and then went back and painted in the eyes. I really would love to hear what you think of this. Thanks for your comments in advance. Link to comment
alex_hawley 0 Posted November 21, 2002 Congratulations for trying something different. A more dramatic or sinister pose would heighten the effect; she looks a little to innocent to be in a dark mood. Overall, I like the effect. Link to comment
don_hall1 0 Posted November 21, 2002 I might of added a bit of contrasting color to the lips, as well. Very nice image, though. You chose a nice color blue - nicely subtle. Link to comment
jferland 0 Posted November 21, 2002 A beautifully styled picture that goes somewhere new. Everything seems to fade in right, and the lack of a background comes out as beneficial... good pick. Maybe a little more contrast in the hair to the right side of the frame, but then again every photo gets a nit-pick :/ Link to comment
scott bulger 0 Posted November 22, 2002 This technique is old and tired and very cliche. It is more of an excercise for Photography 101 students so that they can see the effect that light has in the darkroom. It doesn't make a bad picture better. I am not saying that the original was bad because I haven't seen it. Painting the eyes blue in PS doesn't help it either. This seems more like an excercise in "what can I do to make something interesting out of this very average portrait". You have some excellent work in your portfolio, but this isn't one of them. jimvanson 0 Posted November 22, 2002 Exellent as I think the concept is great and the print well done. Link to comment
rick vincent 1 Posted November 23, 2002 I agree with Scott. You have better work in your portfolio. The effects here are far too amateurish. I do appreciate your attempt, and your willingness to experiment. Through experimentation come great ideas. Keep them coming. --Rick Link to comment
