Janusz and Dan, many thanks for the feedback. I like this sort of stuff a lot but I do have odd tastes.

Nice colour scheme. You've achieved a strong feeling of depth here, which can be a challenge with this type of image. The combination of the foreground trio with the fairly wide expanse between them and the background foliage, keeps that third dimension alive. Also nice the way the base of the trunks blend with the grasses. I have always found that aspect to be a challenge to get right. Without that grounded feel to the trees you can loose some of the cohesion of this being a landscape. Strong composition , beautiful light and great atmosphere.

 

This one really works for me but then , I too must confess to having odd tastes.

Probably not the kind of stuff you would intentionally want practice with film... I like the effect very much, soft, yet it has structure. Wonderful pastel colours and a pleasing composition. Cannot find anything I could suggest as an improvement.

Many thanks. I'm really enjoying these experiments.It is certainly not something I would be trying with film. I am discovering how difficult these are, but the keepers are just great. Perhaps odd tastes could be addictive.

May I know at what time you take this picture please? Dawn, Dusk?

 

May I know the time of exposure, f value, iso, etc please?

 

For the flash, do you use first curtain sync or second please?

This was taken in a shaded area just after dawn. The exposure was ISO 50, 0.6 seconds at f/11. I didn't use flash on this one. I haven't experimented much with flash yet but I suspect that it doesn't matter a lot, you just end up with one bit sharp from the flash but at a different time in the exposure. I think this one gets the result that it does more from the dark background than anything else. I hope this helps. You might like to look at Gordon Bowbrick's work. He is the master of this sort of image.

Hi, Jeff. This one is truly wonderful. Congrats. And yes, I'd gladly hang it in my living room: I do like it that much ! :-) No suggestion for improvement but a question instead: any Pshop manipulation here...?

 

Besides that, don't expect to see me too often on the site in the near future... Sorry for that. I'll still drop by on and off, but I am getting a bit tired of the response and trends and habits on this and other similar sites... Thanks Marc, this is pretty much straight out of the camera. With all that movement going on PS becomes overkill.

I tried a blue toned monochrome of this, but color is really the better choice. Very attractive color palette, especially the distant cyan light against the brown hues. The slightly diagonal movement is perfect. Very very good !

I like the color too. This has punch! The abstractness, repetition and colors make this intriguing, to say the least. Good eye, and great technique. You always amaze me, my friend. Keep 'em coming! Cheers! Chris

here again I would encourage you to investigate a slightly darker foreground. A matter of taste, I suppose.
