rbanfield 0 Posted February 23, 2009 Beautiful capture! Last time I shot up by Mendocino and Ft. Bragg I was a senior in high School ( 43 years ago ) This shot makes we want to go back...RAY Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 13, 2009 Lovely slice of nature, very nicely framed and captured. You've included just enough of everything around the edges that it doesn't look like something was accidently missed or accidently allowed to intrude. Link to comment
terry foster 0 Posted March 14, 2009 I can't understand all the low ratings for this image Linda, a 6/6 from me. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 15, 2009 Those ratings are absurd. I think it's simply because landscape images as a whole are less favored today compared to several years ago (I have no idea why this might be -- it's just an observation), and small, intimate landscape like this are less favored than the majestic mountain shots with blazing sun and blood-red clouds. I think all of the elements in this photo are very well composed, and your attempt at soft water was very successful. If I were to try an alternative, it would be to raise the camera so that the bottom edge just touches the white-water tail-out (is that a word?), thereby eliminating the least interesting part of the foreground water while gaining some extra green at the top; it would also put the rock on the left further into the corner, which I think would be fine. lldunbar 0 Posted March 15, 2009 Thank you Ray,Terry and Stephen for your kind remarks. I like the idea, Stephen of cropping a little off the bottom. I'll give it a try. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 16, 2009 I think Stephen has a good idea there Linda....however this is a very well composed 'intimate' landscape shot. I haven't posted many landscapes...I've got a lot to learn as well in this area...but I've got so many favorite 'woodsy' places that are just like this....Great detail and color..attention to 'light' very good...cograts on another fine addition to your portfolio!.........Gail Link to comment
daveinwilton 1 Posted July 11, 2010 This is a very nice "intimate" landscape. I agree with the previous recommendations, however the main thing that "bothers" me is the sense of not being level. A very nice capture, thanks for sharing.-Dave Link to comment
lldunbar 0 Posted June 14, 2014 Here is the straightened and cropped image. I also adjusted shadows and highlights slightly. Link to comment
