danbliss 0 Posted February 21, 2009 I think this is a stronger version. Thank you, Michael Meneklis, James Kazan, and Gordon Bowbrick for their comments on an earlier version. Dan Link to comment

danbliss 0 Posted February 22, 2009 Pierre, thank you for the comment. I know that one should not take scores too seriously, but I have to say that I was sort of amused by the couple 3/3's that the photo received soon after it showed up high up on the 3 day average page. It is always strange when you get 3's & 7's on the same image. It is all for fun, and I hope it works for some people. Dan Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted February 25, 2009 Nicely composed and very well processed. What a depth of field! I have stopped asking for ratings as I had a "friend" who gave me a 3/3 on every image I posted. When it becomes about something else other than photography, to me, it loses it's value as a tool. Link to comment
timeless earth 1 Posted February 25, 2009 Nice abstact B&W Dan . I think the compsition is excellent -the fan of lights and shadow tones works very well! All the best Ferg Link to comment

gordonjb 10,860 Posted February 27, 2009 Dan; This does have a different feel. My vision is more directed here . Before I tended to wander around the frame in a more leisurely fashion. Now I feel like I am traveling in a quick and linear manner as if speeding down a train track, or indeed a causeway. Everything is sharper and more hard edged. This version seems more purposeful if that makes any sense ? Personally I like both versions and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from the degree to which the atmosphere of the photo can be altered by some subtle alteration to your PP. dugstervision 0 Posted August 5, 2009 Hi Dan. Thanks for your recent comment on Chelsea w Train. I am attracted to this photo because of the gritty high-contrast, and the nice arrangement of triangular shapes. Something about the darkened sky feels odd. Maybe it would be better as flat shape, which would be consistent with the other shapes. One trick for eliminating 'banding' is to use the add noise filter in PS, at 1.2 to 1.8 percent. I'm not sure if I am seeing banding here or something else. Great textures! Link to comment
danbliss 0 Posted August 6, 2009 Doug, thank you for your thoughtful comment. I think you are right about adding a bit of noise to break up the gradient. The strange thing is that I don't see "banding" in the original. I wonder if it is a compression artifact. In any case thank you for the comment. Dan Link to comment
