I am not really into ballet photography, however you seem to be an expert, judging from your portfolio. Overall very nice work. I do have a couple of problems with this particular image, however. First, for slightly better symmetry, crop the floor away just above the shadow. That shadow may not be connected with the dancer at all--it could be from some bystander. Ah, yes, it must be from the dancer. I see the same shadow in other very similar shots of yours.
What is that green object along the floor line. It keeps attracting my eye. Clone it away, or make it some other color.
I admire the very graceful lines depicted here. The desaturated colors go well with it. Congratulations on being chosen this week.

The movement and grace is well captured. The hair gives the photo incredible energy. I like the light touch in terms of the color and hue palette a lot. A very nice moment seems to have been caught.

It feels tightly cropped, so the dancer and movement seems pent up. I don't understand why the arms and legs have been given different tones. It doesn't seem in harmony with the image itself and feels like it disrupts the movement.

Yes...she is a ballet dancer.
I dont have any information about this dance or details, but I think the gesture and figure is very nice.
Maybe it is a hard dance to learn and do.
The shadows make the picture very impressive the same as the shadow for pipes on the wall and the shadow of dancer`s legs.
According to the light and details,I should say beautiful!!!very strengh...And thnx to Mr.Vihao Pham for catching this and compose.
Wish you the best...Regards(Bobby).

One of my favorite model poses. Wonderful flight expessing both beauty and freedom. Fantastic!

Woah... this is unexpected. I wasn't expecting anything of mine to show up in the POW forum.

Bill, the green tape is used to help dancers position themselves in the studio. I usually remove them and the electrical outlet from photos, but I left them in in this case for whatever reason. I left the shadow in on purpose to give the jump a little height.

Fred, her arms and legs have different tones because she's wearing dance tights. It's a little distracting, but it's standard issue dance attire. Given her age, I wasn't comfortable asking her to go without them.

Composition, exposure and tone are very good. Combination of grace, rhythm and strengh have accentuated the beauty of this image, though the emphasis is on her hair, which is attractive,no doubt.

Bright tonalities perfectly suits to ballet dancers. The way how the hair is frozen, the whole movement looks enliven. But still, some subtility misses.

Wonderful capture, so graceful! Maybe more blur background (photoshop or on camera). Congratulations.

Great lines, very good movement and action to this shot. I think the lines and flow of the photo are very good.
I like the frozen moment, although it appears to come at a price of a bit of grain. The muted colors are good.

Overall a good photo.

A very strong high-key capture at the top of the leap. The horizontals of the barres and the floor molding (or whatever) orient the dancer in space and provide a static counterpoint to all that energy. The high key, including the lost line at the front of shin and foot, emphasizes with light energy the kinetic energy being expressed. The point of the picture is really the discipline of form--the alignment of perfectly poised limbs--contrasted with the wildly disordered hair. There is, however, a reason hair is tamed in ponytails and buns, and in this case it has to do with the line of the spinal column cut by the left extended arm. Ordinarily it would still read well, but the tossing hair makes the head seem disembodied.

Working with dancing groups as photographer, I appreciate the composition, timing, and the energy of the dancer movement you have succeeded to express. Her hands are like" framing" the movement of her hair with her body together. Will be better without the green spike. The light is good, BG is not competing and exposure is well executed. Congratulations.

I wish I could say this is how I get up every morning. The grace, agility, and power are captured so very well - every detail of her body contributes to a wonderful image. I just marvel at physical abilities like this, and you caught the perfect moment.

This is well seen and well named. (I know that the hair is the first thing that I noticed.)

She appears to be an exploding bundle of energy. This is very good work in every way.

I agree with Landrum's statement of "Exploding bundle of energy". It's a very good capture. I'm a fan of tight cropping. I think this one is a bit too tightly cropped, especially at left. It would be more comfortable if she had room to "move into"

I'm a fan of dance images, so in this case, the jury is biased, but I think it's an absolutely fantastic image. I would be doing cartwheels if I could catch a moment like this with such certitude and sensitivity. I just love the muted colors and the shadow rendering on her legs. And, yes, I think I prefer the square crop.
Excellent work, my friend.
