root 0 Posted November 15, 2002 hold the mill, hold the falls . . . . . what do you think of the left / right balance? Link to comment
morey_kitzman 0 Posted November 15, 2002 This really works for me. The movement of the stairs to left seems to be balanced by the lean of the tree to the right. I think we can become too fixated on canons of symmetry and balance, sometimes a little asymmetry gives the picture an interesting tension. Very nice composition. Link to comment
root 0 Posted November 15, 2002 thanks Morey. dividing the image in half really does cause the eye to jump back and forth, as does having two clear points of interest. My hope here is that there is no hard line down the middle and that the rock provides a third element. Yeah, I find it hard to ignore some of these rules. My style has been referred to by some as overly formal. Oh well, so be it. Link to comment

nicholas_lindan 2 Posted December 8, 2002 Great composition: just the right amount of symetrical asymetry, or something like that... But you don't need me to tell you that. A photo I could hang on my wall and not get tired of. Link to comment

patrick flynn 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I absolutely love your photo's from this park. My only comment with regard to potential improvement for this photo would be the use of a polorizing filter to help eliminate some of the reflection of the leaves. I think these reflections take away from the photo. (IMHO) Link to comment
root 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Glad you like it. I'm pretty sure I used one, but since it was raining (no direct sun), I'm not sure it would have made much of a difference. What I think you may be seeing is the white underside of the leaves that are wrong side up (from an aesthetic perspective.) Link to comment
