It isn't easy and made more complex by a moving subject rather than a stationary one. It is good. I think the goal would be to have one rider is pretty sharp focus in the center, but you probably already knew that. I wish I could give you some tips, but I think it is somewhat a matter of luck and taking lots of photos like this.

I like it a lot. I agree with David's comments, but think it still makes a very interesting photo even if all of the riders are somewhat blurred. You picked a good location and a good choice of cropping. I'm wondering, though, where you were if you weren't riding a bike yourself. Overall, it seems to me to be a bit darker than optimum. That may just be my own personal taste, though.

Shooting moving subject with zooming is an extremely difficult technique especially using shutter of 1/10 sec as this photo for a relatively high speed subject like bicycles. I could only manage to get less than 5% photo with reasonably sharp subject using shutter of 1/20 to 1/30 sec without zooming when shooting bike competition. So I always shoot hundreds of photo each time such that I able to pick up several of them to put in my album. You have shown us a very successful try as you are able to capture face of the cyclist in the centre with acceptable sharpness.

Yes, I think I took about 50 shots on this corner some of those shots are SO impressionist like that I could probably post it without an explanation under "abstract" :)

TO answer a question - this was taken on the outside of an S bend, so I was actually about a meter from the edge of the road. I tried faster speeds too but could not achieve enough twist of the zoom ring in the shorter exposure time - I had a thought while on the track that a monopod might be very useful right now...

Cheers.

Martin.
