OK, you did this to me, so it's my turn...

Simplify!

I think you're trying to show too many things in the frame. Plus see my suggestion on the other recent forest path photo of yours.

Derrick, Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees:) My intent when taking this shot was to show the path & in doing so missed the composition you pointed out. Getting one's photos out for a second opinion is what this forum is all about. I like your suggestion & may do a print like that. Gotta love the forgiving nature of MF for that sort of thing. Best, LM.

What would be YOUR approach to an autumn scene such as this. What

would you do differently? Equipment? Film? Composition? Best, LM.

I like this photo. It doesn't seem cluttered to me and the pathway is an interesting subject. Don't see a need to crop the image. I've tried a lot of pathways and learned that often wide angles give better sense a depth. Obviously, you were the one to see the setting and decide what lens to use. If you can find the setting again with some bright sidelighting.....

Nothing like a larger negative. Really nice exposure too. The only thing I think I might have done differently is stand on a ladder so that you never loose sight of the path. It goes out of sight right after the little dip down. I can see your intent, but if you could have showed me the whole path from the foreground thru to the background my eye would not have had any choice but to walk down that path and into your frame. But still this is a fine shot and shows intent. What about if there was a figure, perhaps a woman or girl in red or yellow at the end of the path? Or would that be too much like Little Red Riding Hood?

Kent, For some reason I can't recall I forgot my ladder that day. Isn't that always the way? Leave a piece of equipment at home & sure as hell you'll need it. Actually, if I had taken it from the ladder, it would have exposed the troll (who grabs & eats little girls in red or yellow capes) I had hidden just over the rise. Thanks for your comment. Best, LM.
