kelson_smith2 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Great shot, a real easy feel to this photo, color to me just would'nt give nearly the same easy feel like black and white.Draws you in. Great job. Link to comment
daniel_blakeslee 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Keep these wonderful images coming. I grew up in Colorado and you are making me homesick! You might consider getting a 7x17 or 12x20 banquet camera so you could make fantastic contact prints. Link to comment
howell_white 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Really nice. Please show us the color version. Link to comment
co dave 0 Posted November 12, 2002 "The Best of the Bunch"..... (but when's the color version coming :~) ) How did you get the moon so large? Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Bobby: You been workin' hard, bro! You and that Land Cruiser put on some miles this month. The Toyo must still be cooling down too! Where do you work, man? Do they still have a Screen scanner? Those things don't have any factory support anymore do they? We can barely get support for our Linotype-Hell. This is just another Bobby Douglas special. Truly nice and don't show the color unless you feel like it! Link to comment
bobby douglas 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Well the Land Cruiser had 152k at the beginning of the summer and now it has 166k. I guess I've been rackin um up. The moon is big because this was shot with a 210mm lens and I actually have an 8X10 but it's very hard to use because I don't have a very wide angle lens for that format, Also light leaks are a problem when working with film this big. Fred About The Scanner, I work at Eagle Direct Printing and they don't have a drum scanner they should though the screen 1015AI is mine and no I can't get any tech support for it, It Work's pretty good but the bulb is going out and I don't know how to change it or even what bulb it need's. This creates a problem because the scans are coming out with more grain than what's in the film, a lot more so I have not been able to print any of my new 4X5's but that does not stop me from putting them on photo.net, they look fine at 600x800 pixel's. robert_tilden1 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Was this panorama created by cropping? Why didn't you use IR? What filters did you use? Time of day and time of year would be of interest. rltilden@comcast.net Link to comment
bobby douglas 0 Posted November 12, 2002 This Panorama was created by cropping the 4X5, nothing of interest top or bottom. I usually just don't shoot any thing but 100 speed transparencies because I like it so much, Do you know what 4X5 film and processing cost these day's. I shoot a lot of film that you don't see too, I probably only use 5% or 10% of what I shoot. Time of year, September fall colors time. Thank you for your interest Robert. Link to comment
co dave 0 Posted November 13, 2002 10 % ? I guess that's what separates the master from the apprentice. I'm running 2-5%. (And here I thought the moon was so large because it was heavily cropped; I can't get a moon that big with a 300mm on a 35mm rig, but that's the advantage of large format (wink ,wink, nudge, nudge). Don't bother with the color version. This is perfection!! Link to comment
gianni_cazzulo 0 Posted November 13, 2002 I think that thelong view suits this picture perfectly. The dark sky adds to the dramatic effect. Link to comment
norman_roberts 0 Posted November 14, 2002 I lived in Denver 1.5 years and visited the San Juan mountains 3x. I've not seen a better landscape on photonet. Link to comment
toby_tyler 0 Posted November 14, 2002 I like the "layering" effect achieved in this shot. Each one has its own imagery and texture, both contrasting with complimenting the next. Wonderful. Link to comment
greg_poulsen 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Wonderful tones. I think I will prefer the BW to the color once you post it. I would love a 20x50 of this on a wall. Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted November 14, 2002 This is a good B&W shot of a well known area in the San Juans called Dallas Divide. To see IMO an even better color panorama with great light, have a peak at http://normankoren.com/Image2001/San_Juan_Sneffles_1001.html Link to comment
bobby douglas 0 Posted November 14, 2002 I may be bias but I think I like mine better. Have a look at it in color Just copy & paste this line into your Internet Browser http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1119910 Link to comment

bobby douglas 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Oh no quick put that digital camera in the trash and look through your Grandpapie's stuff maybe you'll find an old Nikon-FM or some sort of field camera. Link to comment
nanasousadias 0 Posted November 15, 2002 Fantastic shot, Bobby! I know what you mean about using a 8x10 camera, i've been shooting with a Dierdorff, it's a pain in the ass...untill I developed the negative!! I've made a contact print, it's beautifull! It's the "real thing"! But you're right, it's a pain in the ass, to carry that monstruosity over the country! Link to comment
seven 0 Posted November 16, 2002 What was that about RGB and CMYK and beer in your recent comment on my bubble masterpiece? Were you pulling green ale and fondling something soft at the time? Okay down to the serious stuff - well, as serious as one can be in these parts. I like it. Whatever crop was made can only have improved the intensity. The IR effect on the trees is vital here, as you'll know : imagine them dark, yuck - like green beer. The moon : well we know you downloaded that "moonshot" on the front page at the moment and cloned it in, most convincingly too - can't even see the nail. I stand to be corrected, but I doubt the colour version will touch this for atmosphere. Not as much detail as your Mill shot for obvious reasons (lighting and fl come to mind) but I like this one even more. As for the title of this comment, well I can't bear those little smiley things these days, just imagine one's there. Okay, I'm buying - what'll it be.... Link to comment
