paolamarinangeli 0 Posted January 13, 2009 The name ''Bodegon'' (my Spanish friends will forgive me if I have spell it wrong....'' ) is used to define Still life Paintings from the Spanish School that, together with the Flemish one produced in the 16th and 17th centuries beautiful exaples in the genre of Still Life. The Spanish artists produced beautiful works with very simple elements, fruits, vegetables of foods without the gorgeuous , precious silver or porcelain pieces associated with flowers, fruits or food so frequently used in the flemish schools. Spanish artists used wonderful, warm chromatismss with dark backgrounds and they had the mastery to work with lights and shadows like Caravaggio. Having all these in mind I have tried to combine different kind of pumkins and a fibers-basket using ,as background ,a piece of hand made paper with a very rough surface. This is the result that is now here for your comments. We have in PHOTO.NET wonderful Still life galleries, some of them are by Spanish photographers and in these galleries I have found WONDERFUL Bodegones, that looks like real paintings, to demonstrate that this beautiful and important tradition so tipical in the European history of arts is still alive and loved.
