I personaly prefer the coloured version because the POI is so more obvious. Perhaps the BW version could use some more contrast?

Great photo, ... did you try putting the head just a little more off center horizontaly?

I see what you mean about composing the head slightly more off center horizontally.

I chose this composition to avoid putting the right hand (from the Macaque's perspective) too close to the image edge. This is the product of my preference to crop tightly. I think to accommodate such a shifted composition I would need to add more nebulous space to the top and right of the image. I will give it a try. Thanks again.

That's a really eye catching image in my book. That bright splotch of red face against all those dark tones really grabs my attention.
