This has the potential to be a fine period photograph with alot of mood. However, for my taste the two white police boats are very distracting and look totally out of place in the context of a period piece. Of course they belong in the context of a documentary photo. Same goes for the orange buoys.

Do you have another version of this image without the modern white boats, if not try cloning them out to see what I mean. You might wish to take this a step further and present this image as a cyanotype as I feel it is most of the way there already.

Nothwithstanding the foregoing a fine effort, and something we just do not see in the west. Cheers, T

Very nice mood, inndeed.

However, the longer I look, the more I think at least two images were merged together. The boats in the fog are "flying" too high, compared to the water level in the foreground and to the relatively low point from where the group of boats on the left was photographed.

Besides that, the title could also be understood as fishing season - for the police...

This is a photo taken on Taihu Lake in the city of Suzhou. The blue mood is created by the smoke released to celebrate the opening of the fishing season in 2008. I didn't do any PS though I once tried to make a version without the police boats. So it can still be called as a documentary photo. What's more the closed fishing season is lauched to protect the environment.

A very moody and beautiful shot. I like that it is not some super photoshopped piece like so many photos appearing on photo.net nowadays. Although I like that style as well! Nice to see a little more traditional. In this photo I get distracted by the police boats and it would be nice to get a shot without them. I've had so many potentially great photos ruined because I couldn’t get the shot without people or modern artifacts in them.
