Well I got the start shot that I wanted at the Honda Indy 300 - of

course it meant that all of the action at the start is happening

behind the spray and i got no shots of the incident until after the

spray cleared.

Any comments welcomed.

Justin

Really nice! It certainly gives a good idea of how bad the conditions were. And Bruno's creative interpretation of "single-file". I like it.

Very nice. The red car attracks the attention more than the black. But the format strenghtens the power. The mist (or spray) hides all unneccesary details;

Nice work Justin.

I like the angle and like the way you have taken advantage of the weather conditions of the day.

While I really like the criopping, I wonder if just a little more room would have had an impact.

I've done a print of the full frame image and personally I prefer the tighter crop. Above the image is just more of the featureless gray spray which I don't feel lends to the image. Others might disagree (and of course that is the beaty of a forum like this one).

With regards to the access required, I hold a media hard card for the V8 Supercar series. As the event was a double billed event (hah - they swallowed that one hook line and sinker) our V8 credentials allowed pretty much unrestricted (except for pit lane during the race) access to the event.

There were limited cutouts for photographers and I actually spotted the one from where I shot this image from on the Friday - after seeing the location I decided then that I wanted to shoot the race start from there and avoidied it until then. It was quite awkward to get into and despite the lack of cutouts the marshalls at that flag point told me that I was only the 2nd shooter to visit that location up until after the re-start.

This is just fantastic, I was there and know how bad the conditions were this is a truely excellent shot. Wish I could get a hold of one of those passes with 24hr Bathurst coming up it'd be handy. Well done!!!!

Justin, that is a great shot. To someone who isn't interested in racing, they might say, well, two cars, so what. But in the context of the situation at Surfers Paradise, this shot only gains in value. I think my only desire would be to see a little more space on the right side of de Matta and the left side of Junqueria. In a race that didn't have many good moments, this certainly captures one of the best! Good job!
