andipopescustudio 0 Posted December 20, 2008 Thank you all! :) P.S. I'm really curious about the anonymous 3/3 rater. I mean, if he would've rated it a 3/5 that would have been "understandable", but in what way is this shot unoriginal? What can I say? People are people! Thanks again all, Andi. Link to comment
andi.todea 0 Posted December 20, 2008 Nice one Andrei, but in my oppinion you should take care with the shadows which are not natural (the shadow from the girl`l leg who is sitting on the floor is pointed in front-left, but at one meter behind, the second`s model shadow is the exactly the opposite). Also the male`s shadow had it`s own orientation which is different from the previous two... Link to comment
danbliss 0 Posted December 20, 2008 It is a beautiful and interesting image. I like the concept and the execution. As far as someone giving you a low rating, I am guessing they didn't look at the image. As far as I am concerned, nicely done. Dan Link to comment
rblaser 0 Posted December 21, 2008 Fantastic - I particularly like the 'discarded' figures in the lower right. Very good story. Link to comment
vetterhome1 0 Posted December 24, 2008 Emancipation: Why ? Where ? The father and the son and the ... . ! Say Im a lady I am proud - not a slave ! Lets look forward: 2009. Well done ! BR joerg Link to comment
andipopescustudio 0 Posted December 24, 2008 Actually the title is "Education", not "Emancipation" and the shot is not about enslavement, it's about manipulation. Thank you, Andi. Link to comment
pmj 6 Posted March 16, 2009 Please note the following: This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Help & Questions Forum. The About Photograph of the Week page tells you more about this feature of photo.net. Before writing a contribution to this thread, please consider our reason for having this forum: to help people learn about photography. Visitors have browsed the gallery, found a few striking images and want to know things like why is it a good picture, why does it work? Or, indeed, why doesn't it work, or how could it be improved? KenPapai 37 Posted March 16, 2009 This is a very attractive concept pulled off well. I don't "get" the 'Education' title though. Interesting combined elements here with the focus to be on the puppet lady but always tends to drift to the downed lady. (The dad teaching the little kid something?)Nice modernistic or super-stylistic photography! Link to comment
mg 0 Posted March 16, 2009 I really find this funny and interesting... Only one little negative, perhaps: blurred edges and blurry corner of the room are a little awkward for me. All else is a real delight and should please all enquiring minds...:-) All the best for your next pictures of this kind - and other kinds too... Link to comment
andipopescustudio 0 Posted March 16, 2009 OMG! It's an honor. Thank you for the appreciation. It makes it all even more worthwhile.Andi Popescu. Link to comment
Xiao Cai 3 Posted March 17, 2009 Lighting is not good, very confused by which is the main subject and what relationships between subjects, and the composition is also not good. This picture didn’t have any photography’s techniques. In my opinion this picture is very unsuccessful. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 17, 2009 An excellent conceptual image, open to several interpretations. A couple of the elements don't quite seem to match up, but that is sort of a minor point with an image like this. I could've done without the four copyright imprints. I'd also like to see more shadow detail, but overall, the image and the concept work for me. Link to comment
192 0 Posted March 17, 2009 an intelligent shot....I really like this for gestures and the peoples who are playing the puppets....good details in this one....regards((bobby)). Link to comment
paraddox 0 Posted March 17, 2009 I see a lot of people who disagree with the idea of the image automatically express a bad opinion of the image itself. FYI the larger theme of the image was EVIL, meaning that the author actually does think that the idea portrayed in the image is an EVIL one. I think this needs clarifying so that people can view the image as it was meant. I know this because the author is a friend of mine and I helped him to degree in producing this image. In my opinion the lighting part of the image could have been much better but unfortunately we did not have the technical capabilities for more. Great work Andi! Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted March 17, 2009 I can see already this image is going to drag up a lot of equality, politically based issues. That's not what it's about. It's about the image itself. Which, by the way is conceptually so well done. The idea is so original. Very much deserving of POW Link to comment
michael j hoffman 0 Posted March 17, 2009 Excellent POW selection! Props to the Elves, and congrats to Andi! This image puts me in mind of a Hans Bellmer exhibit I saw at ICP nearly 10 years ago. His work, like this image, is, at one level, disturbingly captivating, and at another, just beautifully well-executed art. Fantastic image; 7/7.Michael J Hoffman Link to comment
mlande 0 Posted March 17, 2009 Wow. Not sure why I'm jumping in on this discussion. Opinions are really strong. To me, the image is engaging, unusual, and creates a mood right away. It keeps me looking and thinking. I think you did a great job (and gave it 7/7). Link to comment
