tgood 0 Posted December 15, 2008 I love the sense of urgency and drama combined with the humor. Another great street scene photo John. Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted December 15, 2008 I am a sucker for a 'good background' and have a huge presentation about the importance of using the background as an integral part of the photo -- this is one that languished for 1-1/2 years to almost 2 years before I went back through some old downloads and resurrected it. I have gone through about four downloads from that period and have come up with photos that with new Photoshop skills have been really, really good (by my own judgment -- maybe not yours). In other words, I saw for the first time how to bring out my 'ideas' in shooting by applying Photoshop skills I then did not have, or ideas about contrast, etc., that then were beyond me. The surprise for me is that I shot such a huge amount of pretty good stuff, but was unable to bring it to fruition because of my inability to use image editing -- particularly because then I couldn't use 'raw' image editing, which I now have. It's worked wonders, not only for this, but for some others. And most of them are completely full frame. It's been very enlightening and rewarding to 'see' old visions come to a new fulfillment. Surprises even me. Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed this one -- you might notice the same background elsewhere in my portfolio, which is why this one never got worked up -- I almost never post two similar photos or two depictions of any scene or part of a scene, with few exceptions (this is one). Thanks again. John (Crosley) Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted December 15, 2008 Very clever picture, I like it a lot, I haven't seen this wall before, but it is also hard to follow everything kind regards Els Link to comment
asher_lev 0 Posted December 15, 2008 Last time I was in the paris metro was Black September graffiti. And that was the only graffiti. Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted December 16, 2008 Thank you for stopping by and having a look. This is almost two years old -- I'm going through a few of my downloads and being surprised at what I passed over -- this is one of them. I long had remembered that I had intended to process it and post it, but I take (and post) so many photos, that it just got lost in the shuffle, along with literally hundreds of others I've forgotten about. I'm glad you like it; thanks for letting me know. John (Crosley) Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted December 16, 2008 I am confused by your note. This is not graffiti, but advertising. The Paris Metro is always full of advertising -- wonderful advertising -- some of the best in the world, and a trip through the Metro is especially eye-catching for me as a photographer. You do not say when you went through the Paris Metro, whether recently or a decade or so ago, so I am left wondering what your note was intended to convey, and that is why I am confused about it. Thanks for viewing. John (Crosley) Link to comment
asher_lev 0 Posted December 16, 2008 No, you are not confused; I was confused. I saw the photo and "Paris Metro" and I had a flash back... "advertising" or anything else did not ripple through my mind; I saw only the graffiti. When? more than a decade ago; seems like eons ago. I remember seeing and I was afraid. So in short it was a flash back to a scarry situation. I don't think Black September was still around a decade ago. . Link to comment
asher_lev 0 Posted December 16, 2008 P.S.On my second time around this photo is 9/11. So in all cases I do not want to look at the photo. Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted December 16, 2008 I am completely confused by your posts -- they seem very personal, and not related to anything that relates to a critique of this photo, but I cannot know, as I cannot understand them. John (Crosley) Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted December 17, 2008 Art is a "personal" experience. What he is saying is that he thinks it is a good photo.... Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted December 20, 2008 P.S. I too am reminded of 9/11 and "look out below" title is very insensitive. I do not have to be reminded that Paris is a very scarry place and I would certainly not go there. Link to comment
