Took this one at the very end of the day, hand held. The sun was

already down and I thought nothing was going to come out, so I didn't

even bother putting the camera on the tripod. Contrary to my

expectations, after some minor tweaking in DPP (none in PS!), this

photo has been winning a number of awards. Lesson learned ;-) Cheers, Val

Oooooops, it turns out that according to the rules I have actually manipulated it - curves and burning is deemed manipulation. The photo was taken and edited a couple of months ago and I didn't quite remember all the details about it. When I was submitting it today for critique, I thought I hadn't touched it in PS, but after looking at my own notes about it, obviously I have. Here we go, this is my own correction ;-)

When printing the old fashion way with an enlarger and RC paper you always had to adjust the contrast, dodge and burn. Nobody called that manipulating the photo. It's what you had to do making the photo look the same when you captured the scene. I wouldn't call this image manipulated. I've seen sunset like this. Plus raw converters alway make images flat, adjustments have to be made bringing the image back to how it's supposed to look. Well done. Ry

Excellent composition. By putting the horizon on the diagonal creates an incredible dynamic tension on land, sea and air. Colors are beautiful. All the best
