Benijo Dream [3]
Despite its striking natural beauty it is hard to say that Anaga peninsula in the northern-east part of Tenerife is the most often visited place on the island. Guide books mention it occasionally and information available form tourist centres is not sufficient and decidedly not encouraging. I can tell that we got there almost accidentaly hunting for good light and at once we were enchanted by wild, rugged mountains formed from a volcanic eruption about 7 to 9 million years ago. It is believed that Anaga has been the oldest part of the island and in my opinion it certainly does look so. This photo has been taken on the beach Benijo near Almaciga - little village situated not far away from Taganana. The beach is not a first choice for sunbathing and swimming, because of the dark volcanic sand and the sharp, pointed rocks in the ocean, but the scenery is magnificent in its severity.
