timkeller 0 Posted November 12, 2008 I'm just head over heels about your B&W work lately, Dick. I opened this before the color postings. Incredibly sharp focus here: I feel like I can touch the grass and feel the icy water. It looks tilted left a little: you might consider leveling it so the tall tree is closer to vertical. Other than that, I love it. Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Thank you so very much for your kind comments, Tim! There is a stretch of wilderness between my home in Newberry and Marquette, Michigan. Along this stretch there are many creeks and rivers. This fall I noticed that the varied colors in the pines and the bare deciduous trees seemed to lend themselves to black and white compositions. I started playing with the monochrome mixer in Aperture and other adjustments. It takes some time, but starts to "feel right" after adjusting the exposure, contrast, vibrancy and saturation of blue, green, yellow and red. But, it also, as you know, takes a well exposed and sharp primary image. I especially like that you, of all people here, like this image. Best regards, Dick Link to comment

dacamera 0 Posted November 14, 2008 This is quality work, a beautifully balaced composiiton and excellent BW. Looks just a tad tilted. Simon Link to comment
