Guest Guest Posted November 2, 2008 Nothing a little Viagra couldn't cure! The cone saturated beyond texture, blazing against a very deep, dark, and textured background. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 2, 2008 By now you should know there is damn little I can resist photographing (well, maybe birds and weddings). Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 2, 2008 As is often the case with me, I felt the subject needed some juicing up to make it of any interest. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted November 3, 2008 David: I don't see this as my colleagues have described it so far. It is a testament to the "Mavericks" on the road who dare to defy conventional driving wisdom. Nice work, especially the contrasting colors and textures. P.S. Thanks for looking at some of my stuff and for your comments. michael Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 3, 2008 OOOOH! Did you say "Mavericks?" After tomorrow, I'm wondering how popular that word will be. Thanks for the comment. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted November 7, 2008 Maybe more space in the lower right, between cone and frame? Seems like there should be some texture (cross hatch) on the top white so maybe could be burn a little. Other than that all is well to me. Happy to get off of guns. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 7, 2008 I love the high contrast and the vibrant colors in this image. Also, the detail in the reflective material and in the asphalt helps adding to the punchy-ness of this photo. Nice find. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Ah, a flaccid cone. I like the way the bright orange jumps out against the dark background. Nicely seen. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 11, 2008 I survive the stress of this recent election, sleepless and frazzled; I do my best to drag myself back to normalcy and now THIS! Have you no common decency, David. Couldn't you just pass by and leave this poor, beaten soul a shred of decency. No, to you it's just another photo opportunity. I thought I had regained my pride in America and still I find the insidious forces of discrimination and easy laughs hold sway. You should be ashamed of yourself. Signed - Disgusted. ps: like the color Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 15, 2008 This was not meant to conform to any of the standard rules. Of course, that may condemn it to the bad photo album, but so be it. It was just jest. The placement of the snout of the cone was quite deliberate. Sort of like an armadillo poking its nose into a corner. It doesn't need to breath, it needs to get into the essence of the corner. As for detail, yes, it is blown out. The image is a statement of being blown out. Perhaps it's a reflection of my own mind's being blown out. Who knew? At any rate, I did not see it as needing to conform to our standard perceptions. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 15, 2008 Nice to hear from you. I always enjoy your continental view. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 15, 2008 But do not be deceived. Well known is the fact that the seemingly innocent and benign flaccid cone can with a moment's titillation turn into a raging phallic representation. Do NOT be deceived! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 15, 2008 Methinks thou protesteth a bit too much. Admit it, your rage is primarily a result of your perception of my intrusion into the world of conophotry (the artful representation of traffic cones) for which you rightfully claim legitimate fatherhood. But as with all fathers, their daughters must leave the protective nest to face the ravages and temptations of the world at large. I beg you to seek help in accepting a fate you cannot change. baerbel 0 Posted November 16, 2008 This is sort of cool. My first reaction was 'ah, taken on the 5th and a metaphor for the grand old party', but you had actually taken it earlier. Still applies, though. Like the bold colors and the shapes. Nicely done. B Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 16, 2008 Thanks. Nice to have you commenting again. While many of my photos do have political motivations, this one was pure whimsy. Link to comment
