LenMarriott 9 Posted November 2, 2009 Best viewed larger. Nice result here, the canopy just seems to glow. Bet you're glad you bought the 10-22 mm zoom lens. I also like your choice of horizontal format. It gives the illusion of a vast space in the forest which was probably actually much smaller. Good placement of the bare trunk on the right. How to improve? Probably as many answers to that question as there are viewers. Me? I like it as it is. Best, LM. Link to comment
hopsage 0 Posted November 11, 2009 Wonderful composition and a beautiful glow in the backlit leaves. This is one of my favorite fall images I've seen this year. However, I think some of the "glow" has been at the expense of a convincing color in the sky. I want to see a strong blue in the bits of sky that peek through, not a "yellowish" blue, which has effectively desaturated the sky color. I suspect this results from post-exposure work, in which you've "warmed" the overall color cast.I've attached a suggestion that illustrates what I mean about the sky. I translated the file to Lab space, pulled down the curve on the b channel, an then masked off everything in the image except for the bits of blue sky. In your original file, you could probably achieve the same effect by increasing saturation rather than altering the overall color cast. Link to comment
