chip phillips 0 Posted October 9, 2008 The last time I submitted this image, I received a handful of 3's without any explanation, and 6's and 7's from members who commented. Seems as though the rating system is flawed. Comments on this are very much appreciated, however critical they may be. Thanks very much, Chip Link to comment
jmichael 0 Posted October 9, 2008 Your work is spectacular. You personally have to know that it is. Ignore the threes and look at where the majority of the ratings fall. If you are getting 5,6,and 7's on images...you need to be pleased with that. If you cannot look at your own shots and see a 3, then there is no 3 there. Everyone knows what a 3 looks like and there is not a 3 in your entire portfolio. Don't worry about the numbers...they are meaningless. Keep seeking and sharing your great shots! Link to comment
mwkangas 0 Posted October 10, 2008 Yes...This rating system leaves something to be desired...Yes it is flawed. Who cares....You are a good photog...If you dont like this site, well....as you have mentioned...There are other sites! You can always post for "critique only". Regards, Mark Link to comment
younes 0 Posted October 10, 2008 This is a much better presentation Chip. The sunstar here is beautiful, yet it doesn't dominate the scene. On the other hand, the light on the fg leafs isn't quite appealing as on the other posts. The comp. is first rate: the red leaves, the trunk are great lead ins. There is beautiful colour, great scenery. First class shot! Link to comment
chrisalmerini 0 Posted October 10, 2008 Thanks for allowing us another opportunity. It is very easy to see you know how to handle your equipment and convey the feeling you had in being there. As for the ratings- remember we all suffer the same fate if we choose to post in the critique forum. I find the comments left, far more useful to me than the ratings. The invisable '3' rater is a major flaw here but trust yourself more than those folks. I like this image a lot- very nice. Chris Link to comment
vicenteconcha 8 Posted October 10, 2008 This image as all of its portfolio does not deserve a low rating. Those who truly appreciate the beauty, discussed their images and probably give you their true worth, that's what matters, the rest does not deserve any attention. Congratulations. Best wishes. Vicente. Link to comment

kahkityoong 0 Posted October 12, 2008 Of course the ratings system is flawed. There is no accountability. Anyhow I find this to be simply gorgeous and the processing is perfect and very natural. Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted October 16, 2008 I would say you received low ratings because of the surreal colours. Old school guys hate it.I think that it looks badass! Great job! Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted October 20, 2008 I like this better than the previous version posted here on PN in just about every way. I like the facing slope of Mt. Stuart, the light in the sky, and the sun star all much more. I even disagree strongly with Younes and prefer the foreground light here -- it may be less intense but, it is still clearly backlit and just as colourful. Lovely and stunning. Link to comment
daverave 1 Posted October 28, 2008 Chip: There is something about the lighting or saturation or contrast on this shot that seems like an outlier to the rest of your portfolio, which is one of the best on PN. Maybe I'm one of those "old school" guys referenced above! That being said, I'd still rate this at least a 6/6 if I was into that sort of thing ;-) Most of your portfolio is made up of 7/7s.
