Moraine Lake B&W

3-stop ND used to extend exposure slightly and just faintly soften the surface ripples through a longer shutter speed.

Thanks to a suggestion by Chris H on my previous colour version of this image I have worked up this toned B&W.

I was trying to emphasize the depth, clarity, and grandeur of the scene. I also wanted the austerity, the monumental quality, of these stunning peaks to come to the forefront. I like the fact that, despite the warm shadows, there is slightly cool quality to this in my eye.

All comments are most welcome. Thanks in advance.

The color is nice, but ...

Ian, the majesty and grandeur of this image truly shines through in b/w. Chris is awesome and made an excellent suggestion for you! That's very classy converted like this.

Maria

Definately the B&W for me. I like the crisp detail, and strong contrasts more in B&W. Nice B&W mix Ian.

All the best,

Neil

This couldn't be better; and your black and white rendition is really superb, and captures the moment much better than my humble effort. I am most impressed with your ability to preserve and enhance the luminosity and clarity of the FG rocks and shallow water in contrast with the rugged peaks of the skyline. I say, "Bravo!" Very nicely done; and I must say that I believe the black and white is the more powerful image of the two! Cheers! Chris
