paolo de faveri 1 Posted September 19, 2008 Back in the XV-XVI century the Republic of Genoa, of which Corsica was part at that time, ordered the building of a warning system consisting in dozens of watchtowers all along the coast, with the aim to keep safe the island from the many enemies the Republic was facing, including pirates. Each tower was in sight of at least two other towers, and in the case of enemy sighting, alarm was easily and rapidly launched by mean of fires. The Torre dell'Osso - literally, Bone Tower - is probably the best conserved one, among the 60 towers which have arrived to the present time. I took this picture on a morning at the beginning of September, while a front was rapidly approaching the coast from the open sea. As I noticed the front was moving fast, I decided for a long exposure, in the hope of capturing some nice movement in the clouds. Your C&C are as always highly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time. Details: Eos 400D, Sigma EX-DG 24-70 f2,8, B+W 110 ND (1000x), GND soft 8x, tripod. 30" @f16 Link to comment

jtipton 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Wonderful idea to make this a long exposure. The static tower and cliff combined with the movement of the clouds and sea makes this a really great shot. Compliments. Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Hello Paolo, I find the movement of clouds and ocean combined with the static landscape intrigueing. That cloud is very painterly. I like your discerning composition as well, the guard tower placed in the upper third is perfection. Link to comment
