This photo is beautiful. The precious baby is so tiny, his little hand can't even wrap all the way around dad's little finger. It makes me want to cry. I have a son who is now 15 months old, which is still so young in the grand scheme of things, but it seems like an eternity ago when he was this small. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed all of your family photos, but this one is my favorite.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. This is one of my favorites as well. He was only 5 days old when we shot this, and one of the only times he was put to ease was against his daddy's skin. It was a touching moment to see his first time daddy comfort him.

Well captured scene - it conveys the moment of warmth, security and closeness. I particularly like that is not perfect in the sense of a planned, directed photo-shooting (e.g. the newborn's right eye is partly hidden) - this makes it a very honest image which I find far more touching than comparable photos of artificial perfection.

By the way, this is a great example of how scale works in photos: the different sized fingers and nose emphasize how small the newborn is.

A wonderfully tender image. I think that it may be a cropped a litle bit too tightly. I only say this from experience. I have enlarged a few photos similar to this one that become a little bit overwhelming at larger sizes, as it kind of just becomes "all head".

I think the best thing about the photo is that it shows scale and how tiny the baby is. They won't remember that in a few months.

great shot Desirae, composition and tones are very good here. I would have tried to place less of the hand on the infant's face but that may not have been possible I guess. DoF is very good as is the clarity achieved in such a close shot. well done. again cropping levels are very good here

I came across this image via the recent Editor's Pick collection of baby photographs (congratulations!).  This is a very intimate and powerful photo...the vulnerability of that little head next to the hand and face of its parent is stark and compelling.  I also love how the baby is holding onto one of the fingers.  A really beautiful shot.
