davidclapp 0 Posted September 16, 2008 Long time no post. After a long time away travelling, a new machine is now built, capable of much more than I ever dreamt possible. 8gig with Xeon just for kicks, I am here on the starting blocks with a collosal 75gig of images to get stuck into, and thats after pruning. I havent processed anything since May, so I thought I would start in the woods at 6am in one of the most beautiful settings I will ever photograph I am sure. This panorama is all thanks to Herr Zoerkendorfer and his magical PSA. Using medium format lenses on 35mm digital bodies is now the weapon of choice. This image, stitched with two horizontal shots is 8747 x 2915 pixels, a blend of two panos put together. f16, 1/3 and a 1/6th sec. I hope to showcase some new material over the next coming months with the greatest variety I have to offer. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for looking. Link to comment
anhaga 0 Posted September 16, 2008 Bloody Hell. Now thats a photograph...!!! Light is sublime, and I love the diagonal slant it cuts through the canopy. Can't wait to see what else you're going to bring up... Respect, James p.s. - So what exactly are you shooting with now?! Link to comment
iren 1 Posted September 17, 2008 Fabulous! Sure would like to take a stroll through this neck of the woods! Greetings from the west coast of Canada, Iren Link to comment
jtangen 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Wonderful colors, great shadow detail. Highlights in center are just right. Even though horizon splits the image, it works for this pano perpspective. Just Great. Link to comment
tim_donnelly 0 Posted September 17, 2008 That has to be one of the most inviting shots I think I have ever seen. The light, shadows and flowers are just enticing you to go and explore. Magical capture David..looks fantastic. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted September 17, 2008 David, welcome back! What a shot to start with. It looks so good at 6 cm high on my screen -- I can't imagine the details available in a full size print. Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Cheers guys, I have updated the photo with a bigger size, its just too small at 800px on the longest and is now replaced with 1024px Link to comment
deleteaccount 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Not sure if it's been caused through resizing but it's too soft and needs re-sharpening. Nice image! Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Congratulations on producing a fantastic image. The colouring, the light squeezing through the trees creating the shadows over the flowers...plus the large horizontal format all work well for your creation..Well done David! Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted September 17, 2008 See what you mean John, not good. I have had this problem before where Photo.net doesnt replace the original image with a new one. I have just tried again and again with different renamed files and nothing seems to work, some strange caching going on at their end. I have tried refreshing and using two different browers, but it wont update. I have had to resort back to the 800px one (click the picture) which does look sharp. Link to comment
deleteaccount 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Much better now David. I have updated my images here a few times when I have changed my borders and noticed sometimes they update as soon as I refresh my browser, other times it takes about 2-3 days. David, did you by any chance buy the MFS adapter by Zork? I'm interested in purchasing this as opposed to the 24mm TSE by Canon. Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Yes I have the MFS a well, its the best macro money can buy and coupled with the Rodenstock Rodagon APO 90mm makes a killer system, sharpest lens I own even wide open. No CA at all. Bare in mind 80mm is the widest you will go with this set up. The 24mm TS-E, despite its wide focal length, is an good piece of kit, but best suited to shifting for architecture and travel as its pretty poor at resolving fine detail in the edges. I stitch panos with it occasionally and its soft at the extreme edges. The Zork and medium format lens is superb, now its working (I had to get the lens repaired) Link to comment
pankaj purohit 1 Posted September 17, 2008 Very nice lighting and colors David. Nice wrok on panorma. I recently executed a panorma which I made by merging 14 vertical shots on 35mm films. But that was badly lit day so results were not upto the mark. Nice work. Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted September 17, 2008 14 shots of film?! Thats dedication. You have to try these things though. Link to comment
naturegirl99 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Stunning, David! I love the almost horizontal light and the graphic design created by the tree shadows. Straight into My Favorites. --Cheers, Nancy Link to comment
mbpixel 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Davooooooooooooooooo!!! Cracking shot mate! Great lines, colour, composition as usual. This would grace any wall, 90 x 30??!! :-0) Link to comment

alinux33 0 Posted September 19, 2008 Wonderful! I really have the feeling of getting up very early and being in a blue bells field at 6 AM in the cold morning... Excellent shot! Link to comment
ian_kydd 0 Posted September 19, 2008 I really like the way you have captured this image. Exposure is spot on (I would love to see it bigger), Your cropping is good. Well done Link to comment
johne37179 29 Posted September 19, 2008 I have discovered panoramic stitching software, too. What fun. I love the light through the trees. The image below was stitched from 31 RAW images. This software is a great tool. Link to comment
