You've received a huge amount of favorable responses to this, and rightfully so. It's a marvelous image with all the depth and mystery of life itself. I cannot possible say more than a repetition of so much that has already been said. Wonderful work.

A wonderful creation using color, light, and composition. The symbolism of the hand, especially with finger leading, has a long artistic tradition not to be missed. The two shadows are so soft one could almost miss them but they have a certain grace about them. The second main shadow doesn't appear to be a hand but works as one nevertheless. I am a bit jarred (not negatively so) by the more human appearance of the male leg in the upper corner. It seems to intrude on a very placid scene setting up a tension. The softer shadow that the leg creates, almost as an outline to itself, is quite graceful. The stronger shadow of the leg feels a bit clunky in the image. Very, very nice conception.

Even though wee see only one hand, there appears to be two in the shadows trying to grab the sinking item. This is a very mysterious and provocative composition that seduces us with its ambiguity.

Fred, as usual you add points of your thoughts, that lights corners of thoughts in me, that were hidden and are uploaded to the surface. The symbolism of the hand is evidence, starting ( for me) from the work of Michelangelo in the Sistine chapel...This one symbolized as I wrote, the short hand to help a sinking life ...and connected exactly to a hard time of sinking life , I love , and I'm experiencing now.

And I thought how life is the source of creation, and creation is so strongly influenced and connected with personal human life, that we have talked about in past discussions.

For me the human figure, enhances the tension of the short hand. I have cloned some shadows on the man's figure, Please let me know if you think it looks better this way. Thanks again Fred for your detailed analysis and help.

Shuky thanks, and Shana Tova to you too.

Sally, you are right, it is a soul searching, thanks for feeling it.

Adan, you are right, the hands, the real and the shadowed are very symbolic , ambiguous and not. Thanks for writing your feelings!

I think getting rid of the stronger shadow works but I would probably prefer if you kept the shadow closer to his leg as it was in the original. I liked the way it outlined his leg and maintained the curve of his leg and how, in the very corner, it then broadened out. The new shadow you've put in doesn't seem to have as much presence as the original.

Thanks , that what I thought about the change in version 2. it lowered some of the strength of the first one. Thanks for your help and advice.

An incredibly interesting and unique image cleverly obtained..In the corner there is a clear shot of a man on his knees...my eyes then went to the shadow of two arms reaching for a sinking object. Because the shadow is too far away for it to be the man's arms, I assume it comes from a different person...the hand I see appears to be female in gender...so a female is reaching down for the object...Very impressive shot...Marjorie

Personally I think your image speaks for itself, after all, it is about appealing to the soul, what separates art from the rest of any communication form.....the deep saturated blue certainly helps to make this a remarkable piece. Cheers!

Stamoulism Marjorie, Juan and Belen,

Thanks for your interesting comments and liking, it is hard to explain, as it was a tricky situation, and was photographed quite sometime ago. What I like is the personal reading of a given photo of each of us. As I wrote before we bring to our evaluations, our own personal/cultural/life experience " cargo".

Thanks again.
