bindii_me 0 Posted October 4, 2002 I took this photo of a Red Kangaroo from a fair distance with my 300 lens (no tripod). It has not been cropped or altered in any way. I would love some constructive advice thanks. Link to comment
mmarengo 0 Posted October 6, 2002 Pity that the background is almost the same as the kangaroo, and that the tip of the ears are cropped out. Also, the light was a bit too harsh (strong shadows) when you took the picture. Impressive you were so steady without tripod... Link to comment
elaine_roberts1 0 Posted October 6, 2002 I have this lens too, and have found it very useful. The golden light, and the 'glance' you've caught from the 'roo is excellent, but I think a couple of improvements could be made. First of all, it seems very soft - unsharp. This may be from the scanning, but to me this feels like a focusing problem. I've noticed a lot of times w/this lens it is very hard to focus out at 300mm, whether its on autofocus or manual focus. Second, I'd like to see a little more space on the top of the frame; this guy seems a bit crowded and appears to have had his ear hairs trimmed. Plus, you don't really need all the space below his paws. Cropping to leave just beneath the paws (leaving alittle space of course)emphasizes: 1) The diagonal lines of the 'roo's body, and 2) the neat diamond shape formed by the arms. I'd reccommend a re-shoot. Link to comment
marrio 0 Posted October 10, 2002 Excellent timing - it appears to be a reflex shot. Very good composition and blurred background. A wider maximum aperture lens (f/2.8 or f/4.0) could have made the subject 'pop' out even more for you. Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted October 24, 2002 Save for a bit of soft focus and cutting the creature's ear tips off it's a lovely shot and well caught. Thanks for posting. Link to comment
stacey_waselovich 0 Posted November 25, 2002 I agree about the focus and the ears, but you really caught this in nice light. Almost a very good shot! Link to comment
