Not every my bird photo have this rim light. Wild life is not like human, you can't tell them to stand in front of any bg. You need to wait. It just luck this Robin was standing on a branch in front of a far dark cave, and large aperture effect burr out all the things behind the Robin. Add a slightly contrast on RAW can achieve this result.

I like very much the contrast with the black background and the yellow sharp plumage of this beautiful little bird, ( it would be better without that white branch in the left corner, it distracts the eye), ciao Giangiorgio
