RickDB 10 Posted August 21, 2008 Gerhard Richter's stained-glass window in the south transept composed of 11,500 equally sized squares of glass randomly arranged. With the full sun it casts a spectacular splash of colors over the interior. This pushes handheld XDR to the limit and although not even close to exhibition quality, it does capture the feel and splendor quite well. Link to comment

RickDB 10 Posted August 22, 2008 ...thanks for taking the time to comment - pity tripods were not allowed on Wednesdays, this could have been so much better with a few more under exposures to add to the HDR processing. Birte, on the wrecked earth theme there were pictures posted of this cathedral taken in 1945 with no roof or windows and heaps of rubble in the aisle. Seeing the restoration gives a glimmer of hope that humankind really does cherish things of beauty, whether natural or man made, and will go to a great deal of effort to put them right. One can only hope that we start to repair our planet before it too is almost completely destroyed! Milena, just booked myself into Prague at the end of September for 5 days of photography and exploration! I'm hoping for good weather - at the moment it is pouring with rain from Tropical storm Fay - there was over 70 cm of rain in 48 h nearby! Salvador - thanks for your words of appreciation. I hope to visit Mexico too, but it will probably be next year. Cheers, RickDB Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted August 22, 2008 Beautifully captured light and strong and pleasing composition. The thin triangle at the bottom is a slight distraction. Link to comment
