dseltzer 0 Posted August 4, 2008 What a great find! Makes for a very interesting image. It's quite a challenge to the eye to try and apprehend and identify all the levels and planes. Actually, I'm having trouble organizing the bars in relation to the monitor, and the OPEN sign, though I'm sure there's a simple explanation. That aside, it's jam packed, almost to the point of being cluttered, yet it all fits and works and ends up being a very eye capturing, interesting and fun image. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted August 4, 2008 I'm glad you noticed this, David! I haven't been really actively posting, viewing or commenting lately but thought this was worth showing. There IS a lot going on in this one and I don't understand it all myself. What I can tell you is that this computer shop window was in the shade with the sunny side of Main street (old US 40) reflected in the monitor screen. I think the vertical bars are a railing between the street and sidewalk on the shady side. The "301-" is a reflection of the backside of the lettering on the shop window (301 being the local area code.) What I can't explain is the red & yellow horizontals at the top--canopy perhaps? Vaguely implicit in this for me (and not apparent to viewers) is Boonsboro, Maryland's on-going evolution from a forgotten rural crossroad town a to a sort of 'sub-suburb' of Washington, DC, some 70 miles to the south-east. dseltzer 0 Posted August 9, 2008 Your area is well on it's way to the "megalopolis" people predict for the eastern shores, from D.C. up into New York. Could be fine, but I fear it could be a real mess if there's not some large scale planning, rather than letting it all grow metastatically. Meanwhile, back at your picture, I can see the railing now, but I'm still confused by the 301-. If it's the reflection of the lettering on the store window, wouldn't it be reversed in this image to "-103"? Certainly could be a problem with my wiring, but no matter, it's a really cool and interesting image! Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted August 9, 2008 If you were looking at the window from inside the shop, the 301 would appear reversed, but then it's been re-reversed as reflected in the monitor ;~) As to the development of megalopolis, it's a mess and getting worse. Link to comment
