It does my heart good to hear from so many of you ...!

 

I composed this on a 4x5" camera and I didn't manage to get the cross on main spire in frame... I may have to clone out the cross all together because I too see it as a major distraction...

I measured light falling on the subject by means of an incident meter to keep some detail in the whites..

I just noticed that the gray in the sky above the church is also quite beautiful. If this is a transparency I wager it looks stunning on a light box. You certainly did save the detail of the light on the side of the steeple.
