What an excellent shot Karolos! All the times I've operated one of these, and never considered taking a shot. What a fool I've been. Thanks for sharing it with us.

All the best,

Neil

This is really excellent - and I know the difficulty to get a shot like this. Well framed, perfect exposure. Great job.

Technically this is an excellent photo. Every thing work well here but the worker isn't wearing any safety protection and he is unsafe. Congrats.

Great composition with the sparks spiralling out from a just off-centre position. Dynamic image. Regards.

I'm not sure what "fygocentric" means, but I agree with Chris Panagiotidis that the composition of the sparks is critically important to the shot. Maybe not "critically," but important nonetheless. Also, the color palette of the accent lights was properly chosen, too. Note the warm highlights on the underside of the smith's forearms

Congratulations Karolos.

This is a spectacular and dynamic shot. This photograph is really successful in depicting vigor and skill in work situation. Concentration of the man draws the viewer’s attention towards the center of the image. Then the sparkles from the rotating disc involve the viewer totally to enjoy the colors of life at that moment. This is a composition with brilliant exposure. Thanks a lot to the moderators for selecting this photograph as POW. Best Regards.

Ohhhh ! This one made it to the front page !? Great... It's really a very impressive photo - both technically and artistically, and this is something I have the greatest respect for, especially on such a common subject. You have recorded an ordinary action in such a way that it became extraordinary, and it takes a lot of attention to details to manage this, especially on a technically difficult subject matter like this one... Congrats.

This is a spectacular portrait. You photograph the workman very well, but you also manage to capture his environment, his workspace, wonderfully. I already know that he has a great sense of humor. Each tools resting space has been outlined on the wall behind him. You can really get a sense of his personality, which is truly the goal of any portrait, whether it's the best technically accomplished photo or not.

The composition of the photo keeps your eyes dancing all around it, without leaving the frame. The triangle made by the blade of the tool, his head and the hanging blades keeps your eyes scanning the upper area of the frame. The lower half of the image, has the big concentration of sparks which leads your eyes to the cord, and then back to the blade of his tool again. Wonderful photo, and definitely worth the recognition.

Kalimera Karole, Perfect picture in every way but I have one critisism, the picture will not be used by the health and safety dept. as an advert, he should have been wearing protective goggles...I am only joking. Congratulations, a well deserved picture of the week. The Elves have picked well.
